The Evangelical Christian Creed

We believe in the one true, living and eternal God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the diety of Jesus Christ; that He is fully God, that He died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead thus breaking the bondage and penalty of sin, death and hell. We acknowledge His bodily resurrection as the Cornerstone of our evangelical faith and that He alone is Savior and Lord.

We believe that The Holy Spirit baptizes, empowers and indwells all believers. We acknowledge His deity; that the evidence of a spirit-filled life is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We believe that The Holy Spirit divinely inspired the writer's of the Bible; that He accompanies the reading and proclamation of God's Word; that He sovereignly bestows spiritual gifts upon believers and that He brings the lost to repentance and believing faith in Christ.

We believe that salvation is by God's grace through faith in Christ without works, sacraments or self-effort; that every person is a sinner and must be born again in order to become a child of God. We reject universalism and we accept heaven and hell as real places.

We believe that in Christ there is no condemnation; that believers can have the assurance of eternal life; that this salvation is indeed eternal.

We believe in the separation of Church and State; that the only authorities in the church are Christ and the Bible. We reject religious hierarchy and sectarianism. We hold to the autonomy of each local church under the Headship of Christ.

We believe that it is the divine commission of believers to witness to the saving power of the gospel of Christ.

We believe that the ordinances of water baptism and communion have been given to the church and that believer's participation in these ordinances demonstrates obedience to Christ.

We believe that it is the responsibility of believers to be careful not to forsake the regular assembling of themselves together each Lord's day. We acknowledge our need to spur one another on toward love and good deeds, to encourage one another, to give our tithes and offerings unto God and enter into thanksgiving, praise, prayer, and worship in a Biblical company of believers.

We believe that it is the duty of believers to give witness against all forms of personal and corporate sin and social injustice; that believers are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem; that all forms of racism, sexism, classism, and kindred views are inconsistent with Biblical Christianity.

We believe that healing of spirit, soul and body is available to believers; that healing will ultimately complete when believers are taken home to be with their Lord.

We look in blessed hope for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Even so, come, Lord Jesus!"

Statement Of Faith

We Believe and Accept:

  1. The Bible as divinely inspired written Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119:89; Hebrews 4:12)
  2. The trinity (tri-unity) of God, ie: one God in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Dt. 6:4; 5:7; Gen. 1:26; Matt 29:19; I John 5:7,8; John 6:12-15).
  3. The deity of Jesus Christ (John 1:1-3, 14; 8:58; Col. 1:15-17; 2:9; Rom 1:3,4; John 10:30).
  4. The true humanity of Jesus Christ (I John 4:1-3; Galatians 4:4,5); the virgin birth of Jesus (Is. 7:14; 9:6; Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:3,5; John 1:14); that His miracles literally took place (John 2:11,23; 3:2; 6:2; 7:31; 12:37; Acts 2:22); that Jesus Christ alone is mediator between God and people ( I Tim: 2:5)
  5. The substitutionary blood atonement of Christ (Lev. 17:11; Is. 53; Heb. 2:17; 7:25-27; 9:12-15, 22, 26-28; 10:4-14, 17-18; I Pet. 1:1, 8-20; I John 1:7, 2:2).
  6. The Bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (Mt. 28:6,7; Mk. 16:6; Lk. 24:6; John 20:19,20, 26-29; I Cor. 15).
  7. The universality of sin (Rom. 3:23; 5:12; Is. 64:6).
  8. The necessity of the new birth as the means of salvation (John 3:3,5,7,16-18; I John 5:4-6; 3:36; 5:24; Acts 4:12); that salvation is by the grace of God to all who have personal believing faith in Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8,9; Rom. 5:1; 10:9-13).
  9. The maintenance of good works in the lives of believers (Eph 2:8-10; John 15:16; Tit. 3:8; Bk of James).
  10. The personality and Deity of The Holy Spirit (Jn. 16:7-15; Lk 3:22; Acts 5:3,4b).
  11. The need for believers to be filled with The Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18), thus producing personal lives that glorify God (Gal. 5:16-25; Eph 4:1-3; 5:12).
  12. The assurance of eternal life is the present possession of each child of God (I John 5:11-13; Romans 8:1; John 10:27-30).
  13. The imminent bodily return of Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; John 14:3; Matt 24:1; Thess 4:14-18).
  14. The resurrection of the saved and the lost (Rev. 20:4-6; John 5:28,29).
  15. The eternal separation from God's presence of those who do not believe and accept the gospel (John 8:24; 2 Thess 1:7-9; Rev 14:9-14).
  16. The reality and personality of satan (Lk 4:1-13; Gen 3:1-5; Rev 20:10,11); the reality of a host of unseen spirit beings in subjection and allegiance to satan (Mt. 5:8,9); and that believers are to resist satan and his host (Eph. 6:10-18; Jas. 4:7: Mk. 16:17).
  17. The church belongs to Jesus Christ (Matt. 16:18) Who alone is its only rightful Head (Col. 1:18; Eph. 5:23b), that it is being built upon Him. The Church-universal is the body of Christ from which no believers are excluded (Eph 1:22,23; 4:16; I Cor. 12:12, 13:27). Local churches are companies of born again (regenerated) believers who have joined themselves together in commonly shared evangelical doctrine, beliefs, fellowship and purpose (Acts 2:41, 42, 47; Heb. 10:23-25) having called out ministers (servants) to equip, instruct, preach, teach, edify, etc. (Eph. 4:11-16; Acts 6:1-7; 20:28-31; I Peter 5:1-4; I Timothy 5:17-20; 2 Timothy 4:2-5).
  18. The Lord's commission to the churches is to share the gospel in love (Matt. 28:19,20; Mk. 16:15; Lk. 24:47,48; Acts 1:8; Rom. 1:16; 10:14,15).
  19. The local churches are to observe the ordinances of The Lord's Supper [communion] (Lk 22:19,20; I Cor. 11:23-31); and believer's baptism (Matt. 28:19,20; Acts 8:36-39; Rom. 6:1-5; Col. 2:12).
  20. The Priesthood of all believers (I Pet. 2:4,5,9; Rev. 1:6).
